Clinical Translation of Stem Cell Extracellular Vesicles
Congress Announcement:
The Society for Clinical Research and Translation of Extracellular Vesicles Singapore (SOCRATES) will be organising the SOCRATES Scientific Meeting 2014 on 3rd-4th November at Matrix, A*STAR Biopolis, Singapore. SOCRATES was started by a group of clinicians and scientists to promote research and translation of extracellular vesicles in Singapore. The main theme of SOCRATES Scientific Meeting 2014 will be Clinical Translation of Stem Cell EVs. The sub-themes will be Cells versus EVs and Challenges to clinical translation of EVs.
The field of Stem Cell-based therapy is slowly but surely undergoing a paradigm shift from a cell- to a secretion-based mechanism of action. And increasingly, it has been shown that the active therapeutic agent in stem cell secretion is lipid membrane vesicles known as extracellular vesicles. Despite its relative novelty, academicand industry research activity in the field of stem cell EVs and their therapeutic applications has expanded exponentially over the last few years. There is an urgent need for academic and industry scientists to meet and share their experiences.
Through this meeting, SOCRATES hopes to catalyze activity in this field, reduce research redundancy and wastage, and expedite the clinical development of stem cell EVs. SOCRATES would like to invite you to this meeting to share and learn more about this exciting new area of stem cell-derived therapeutic agent.
